With personalized attention still a priority, additional initiatives focus on strategic growth and helpful technological tools.
As Northwood University welcomes future growth, its Office of Admissions has refined processes and systems to ensure that prospective students and their parents continue to receive personalized attention along with technological innovation.
While high-tech tools such as QR codes, virtual college fairs and social networking engines help to ensure that the transmission of higher education information becomes seamless, nothing can replace the personal touch – and it's the home visits to prospective students and parents that provide valuable opportunities to interact.
"Combining the technical components with the personal services that we offer enhances communications between the student, parent and admissions representative. We are known for our personalized attention, and this new model enhances it, and is unique in higher education. This is just one component of our overall strategic growth plan. It's a great time to be at Northwood University," said Dr. Brian Sandusky, Vice President of Enrollment Management while referring to the visits known as Professional College Advisory Sessions (PCAS).
Dr. Sandusky served as vice president of Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas, for four years. Sandusky assumed his duties at this private, multi-campus nonprofit institution in 2008 during a difficult and challenging time. He led a significant change to the institutional enrollment model resulting in considerable new student growth that contributed to the most improved financial turnaround in the institution's history.
Revenues increased from $27 million in 2008 to $44 million in 2011; net tuition revenues improved 40% during this span. Most importantly, the student experience and outcomes improved noticeably as demonstrated in the front-end yield ratios, academic measures, student surveys and retention rates at both the freshman residential campus and in the adult centers throughout the United States and online. Sandusky has also led a new strategic unit titled Enterprise Division that serves nonprofit organizations and corporations in unique ways by partnering and listening to their needs. Services include executive consulting programs and developing customized learning initiatives to enhance clients' organizational effectiveness and bottom line. He also served as associate professor with faculty status in the School of Business.
From 2005-2008, Sandusky served as vice president at Bellevue University in Nebraska where he led strategic initiatives and the Human Capital lab along with enrollment management. He was also an adjunct faculty member in the College of Professional Studies at the private, nonprofit, multi-campus institution.
Sandusky earned his doctor of philosophy in business administration from Northcentral University, his master of arts in organizational management from the University of Phoenix and his bachelor of business administration in marketing from Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is married to Jennifer and has two children, Addison and Jakob. Sandusky enjoys reading, teaching, golfing, bicycling and spending time with family and friends. He is a Grand Rapids, Michigan, native.
