Northwood's Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) students earned a record number of awards at this year's Florida State competitions in Orlando, Florida and are now looking forward to competing nationally.

"I'm thankful for the efforts of President Jordan Altman and the other officers, as the Northwood University Florida DECA group represented the largest population increase of club membership, and I couldn't be more proud of their efforts as they've utilized their competition experiences to represent Northwood University in a manner which has made us very proud," said Professor Robert Sundwick, Associate Professor of Management, and Chair of Northwood of Florida's Aftermarket Management and Entrepreneurship departments. "Through hard work and dedication, all of our students have qualified to compete at the international competition. This has been an amazing experience, and I know the students are looking forward to further demonstrating their knowledge and presentation skills," he said.

The group included Jordan Altman, Margie Rodriguez, Danielle Miller, Danielle Stewart, Michelle Ray, George Wellmer, Ashley Etienne, Daniel Tellez, Carlos Fourzan, and Adam Chester. They competed in a variety of categories such as Marketing Management, Accounting Principles, Business Ethics, International Business, Retail Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, and more.

With over a 60 year history, DECA has touched the lives of more than ten million students, educators, school administrators and business professionals since it was founded in 1946. Their strong connection with our organization has resonated into a brand that people identify as a remarkable experience in the preparation of emerging leaders and entrepreneurs.
