MIDLAND, MI – The Northwood University 46th Annual International Auto Show (NUIAS) took place on October 2-4 and the students fought through the elements as visitors enjoyed over 500 new cars. Show attendees were able to see and enjoy what 900 student workers can produce as each display is student-created.

Jacob (Jake) Wedge, chair of the NUIAS, said, "This year was the greatest that the Northwood University International Auto Show has ever seen. Any other way of describing it would be cheating the hard work that all of the students put in this year. It's easy to have a successful show when the economy is good and people are throwing money at you but we all had our backs against the wall and we put on an awesome show. This year more than ever great thanks are due to our donors, guests and everyone else that made the show possible. As general chair, this experience has taught me more than I ever could have imagined. Thank you to everyone involved."

As the students leave this experience there are many fond memories, but even more significant were lessons learned that will later be applied in careers to come. The hard work of the 14-member executive board did not go unnoticed. From fashion to fundraising, from foreign to domestic, all of the components that make the Northwood University International Auto Show professional and completely free to the public were there. Students that participated in the Auto Show are from all curriculums and backgrounds; this year they had to compete with the weather but still were in great spirits. The students of Northwood University should be proud of their hard work, as the experience they take with them is something you could never learn in a classroom.

Other show highlights included the VIP Panel that consisted of John R. Washbish, vice president, Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, Inc; Peter Brown, vice president/associate publisher, Automotive News Group; Ryan LaFontaine, general manager, LaFontaine Automotive Group; and Anthony Pratt, senior analyst, Pricewaterhouse Coopers AUTOFACTS Team. The panel spoke on current topics in the automotive industry and provided a positive outlook for the industry's future while becoming more cost-efficient in their overall operations.

Robert A. Lutz, vice chairman, marketing and communications, General Motors Company, was featured in the Opening Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting.

The entire event is all proudly planned and executed by Northwood students and is free to the public. If you could not make it this year, we invite you to experience what next year's event will bring. The Northwood University International Auto Show of 2010 will be taking place the weekend of October 15-17.
