2009 Mannequin Modeling Night A Success

The weather was chilly and rainy but that did not stop Northwood University students from posing as mannequins in Midland's downtown store windows.
MIDLAND, MI – The weather was chilly and rainy but that did not stop Northwood University students from posing as mannequins in Midland's downtown store windows. This was the 32nd year that students in Northwood's Fashion Marketing & Management program have participated in the event cosponsored by the Midland Downtown Business Association. Spectators enjoyed hot chocolate to stay warm while enjoying the many decorated windows.
Jill Ouellette, chair of Northwood's Fashion Marketing and Management department, said, "The theme (Keeping it Classy in Midland Since 1959) was a great opportunity to bring attention to our campus as well as the long-standing relationship we have with the community. Not only do we enjoy a rich heritage as an institution but we also enjoy a very special bond with the Midland community. And I am very proud of that partnership."
While the fashion students chose the theme, the way each group interpreted it left for a wide range of imagination. The windows were graded and judged in categories. The winners are below:
Best Overall -- Chemical Bank "Flying Through the Years at Northwood with MBS" with models Nichole Grover, Rachel Grover, Kathleen Federspiel, Sara Erway, Heather Vance, Yao Wu, Noelle Lentz, Xiaomeng Zhao, Xinyi Wu, Xujia Guo, Allie Wormet, Ashley Bush, Krysta Timko, Samantha Hellow, Maria Thelen, Victoria Moss, Becky Hanson, Chelsea Head, and Patricia Moshier;
Best Props -- Hallmark Store "Great Lakes Loons" with models T. J. Janda, Andrea Spohn and Allison Spohn;
Professor's Award for Theme -- Heather and Holly "NU Stafford Dinner" with models Aubrey Shore, Yan Zhuang, Joshua Stuck, Kevin Nass;
Best Theme -- A.G Edwards "Meeting at the Tridge" with models Janelle Lupp and Jeff Baldwin;
Best Historical Theme -- Health Hut "Midland Women Establish Library" with models Shannon Corby, Willa Booth, Mandy McManus, Angie Eldridge, and Chelsea Todd;
Best Models -- Mid-Michigan Music "NU Football" with models David Ghesquiere, Matt Kelly, and Nurul-Afiqah Lokman;
Best Models, Honorable Mention -- Amazing Deli "Firefighter" with model Samnika Wright;
Best Color -- Hamilton Pastry "Northwood University's 50th Anniversary" with models Sara Andary, Brittney Koehler, Amanda Dyer, Brad Martin, Josh Culbert, and Pat McNeilly;
Most Artistic -- Northwood Gallery "NU International Costume Collection" with models Diedra Larsen and Alyssa Studebaker;
Most Artistic, Honorable Mention -- Pizza Sams "Celebrating Northwood's 50th Anniversary" with models Ryan Morales, Patrick Roney, and Victoria Dennis.
