CEDAR HILL – Northwood University's Texas Campus is establishing an Athletic Hall of Fame to honor outstanding former student athletes, coaches, athletic administrators and longtime supporters of Northwood Athletics.

Professor Jack Allday, faculty representative and co-chair of the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, emceed the program to announce the Hall of Fame during Northwood's Homecoming weekend, which included remarks about what it means to be an exceptional athlete and hall-of-famer by renowned author and journalist Carlton Stowers. A standing-room-only crowd of about 300 people gathered in Lambert Commons before Northwood's annual Crossing Over ceremony to hear the announcement.

Dr. Kevin Fegan, provost of Northwood's Texas campus, shared the criteria for the Hall of Fame, including the purpose, members of the selection committee, nomination and selection procedures, as well as the annual timeline. Former student athletes, coaches, athletic administrators and longtime supporters of Northwood Athletics will be eligible for induction. In addition to athletic ability and success, positive representation of Northwood and integrity will be criteria for consideration.

"We are excited to be able to honor these exceptional student athletes and friends of Northwood – and the history of Northwood Athletics," Dr. Fegan said. "Everyone inducted will have proven to be a leader in their sport, as well as in Northwood's Athletic program. We are successful, in part, because of them."

The Athletic Hall of Fame dinner and formal induction will be Saturday, January 16 in Lambert Commons. Details will be posted on northwood.edu.
