Northwood University Florida Campus Welcomes Dr. Barbara Degorge as Academic Dean.

Northwood University is pleased to announce that it has appointed Dr. Barbara Degorge as Academic Dean.

Dr. Degorge received her doctorate of arts degree from St. John's University where she specialized in Islamic political history.

"We are fortunate to have Dr. Degorge joining our team. She brings a wide range of experience in assessment, accreditation, and international education that will benefit Northwood University's students," commented Dr. Kristin Stehouwer, Northwood University's Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer.

Having most recently focused her educational expertise on an international level; Degorge has spent the past six years working in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). She served as Director of Institutional effectiveness at the American University in Dubai, and subsequently as a UAE Standards consultant to the Institute of Management Technology, George Mason University and S.P. Jain Center of Management in Dubai.

Having mastered the languages of English, French, Spanish, Arabic and Hebrew, Degorge served as Dean of Arts and Science at Technical Career Institutes (TCI) College of Technology in New York, New York prior to moving to the UAE.

"Dr. Degorge's vast academic knowledge and practice as an educational leader in accreditation, assessment and international programs have provided her unique experiences which will enhance her role as our Academic Dean. We look forward to working with her to develop cutting edge educational programs tailored to meet the needs of our students," remarked Dr. Rose B. Bellanca, Northwood University Florida Campus Provost.

Dr. Degorge has been published extensively and her book "From Piety to Politics: the evolution of Sufi Brotherhoods" is used in graduate courses.
