MIDLAND, MI – On Thursday, October 8, Northwood University students will return to Downtown Midland for the 32nd year to pose as mannequins in 30-40 store window fronts. The modeling takes place from 6:30 to 8 pm. There will be free popcorn and opportunities for the crowd to make the mannequins move or smile. Mannequin Night is sponsored by the Northwood University Fashion Marketing & Management (FMM) department and the Midland Downtown Business Association.
This year's theme is "Keeping it Classy in Midland Since 1959." The windows are graded and also judged in such categories as: Best Overall, Honorable Mention Overall, Most Original, Best Models, Most Artistic and the Professor's Award.
Jill Ouellette, chair of Northwood's Fashion Marketing & Management department, states, "This is another great year for our FMM program and Mannequin Modeling is just one way students have to express themselves creatively, develop marketable skills and engage in the community. This will be our 32nd year for this event and with Northwood's 50th anniversary, we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate the connection we have with the Midland community. The theme, 'Keeping it Classy in Midland Since 1959,' truly celebrates the long, successful history of Northwood and the excellent relationship we enjoy with the community today."
