MIDLAND, MI – A 2009 Dodge Charger SXT, equipped with communication and emergency devices for campus security use, was donated to Northwood University by Richard F. Huvaere of Dick Huvaere's Richmond Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep.
In making the announcement, Dr. David Long, provost of the Michigan Campus, noted, "Last year we outsourced our security services to a professional firm, STT, whose analysis of resources indicated a need for another vehicle. Dick Huvaere's generous gift brings our security service up to modern expectations for the safety of all campus individuals."
Huvaere, a 1968 graduate of Northwood University, is also an Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award winner, an Automotive Dealer Education Awardee, and a past member of Northwood's Michigan Board of Governors. "Northwood has always been important in my life. I have seen success in the associates in my company, in my family with two sons having attended Northwood, and in myself which I attribute directly to Northwood. I have consistently supported the University financially over the years. Having recently observed the need for two campus safety vehicles, I furnished these important assets to the University and the students. I know firsthand the significance of these vehicles as tools for the safety and security of the University," says Huvaere.
