Northwood University Names James Hop as Chair of Entrepreneurship

Northwood University has named James Hop as chair of the Entrepreneurship department.

MIDLAND, MI – MIDLAND, MI – Northwood University has named James Hop as chair of the Entrepreneurship department. In this role Hop will engage students in entrepreneurial activities and teach the principles of free enterprise. He will also develop support for student entrepreneurial ventures through seed funding, mentorships, externships and competitions.

In making the announcement, Dr. David Long, provost of Northwood's Michigan Campus, noted, "Jim Hop brings a wealth of experience from an early career in banking and finance with more recent successes in building one enterprise and launching another with terrific growth accomplishment. Professor Hop assumes leadership of our well-established and growing Entrepreneurship program. As a graduate of our Richard DeVos Graduate School of Management, he epitomizes the transformation we believe the Northwood education can have on business professionals' lives. Jim brings an energy level and enthusiasm for entrepreneurship to our program that is just plain infectious."

Hop has over 20 years of experience in finance, banking, service and manufacturing environments. He earned his B.A. from Hope College and his M.B.A. from Northwood's Richard DeVos Graduate School. His community activities have included service on the boards of the Midland Area Community Foundation, CBM Services, Family and Children's Service of Midland, and Junior Achievement of Central Michigan, Inc.
