In a life threatening emergency or if a student is in immediate danger, the student must contact the onsite staff and local authorities first. Local police, fire, and medical will have to respond as needed. There is not much that anyone in the US can do if the student needs immediate assistance. Students should know the emergency phone number(s) for their travel destinations. Double check the host country’s equivalent to 911.
Non-emergency calls may be made to the International Programs office at 989-837-4327 during normal working hours 8:30am-5:00pm EST. For emergencies that occur after hours, the student should contact Northwood’s Campus Security at 989-837-4373. This number is active 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The security personal will then inform the appropriate personal. This number should only be used in cases of emergencies.
