Switzerland - Hotel Institute Montreux

Program Overview

In a vision to marry the strength of Swiss hospitality education with the American business degree, Northwood University (NU) and Hotel Institute Montreux (HIM) signed an agreement in late 2001 to offer the bachelor of business administration (BBA) degree dual major in management and Hotel, Restaurant & Resort Management in Switzerland. The program officially began in 2002. HIM is a private institution wholly owned by Swiss Education Group (SEG). Switzerland1

The HIM program is based on a "3+1" format. Students complete a three year higher diploma in Hotel Management and then apply to continue on to NU's BBA program.

Students can:

  • earn the entire degree in Switzerland, or
  • complete the diploma at HIM, and then transfer to one of NU's campuses in the U.S.

The program accepts students from IHTTI and SHMS, which are also part of SEG, and considers transfers from institutions outside of SEG. Hotel Institute Montreux can be found at http://www.him.ch/.
