China - Jilin University-Lambton College

Program Overview

In 1999, Jilin University, Lambton College (Ontario), and Northwood University signed an agreement to found a new institution called Jilin University-Lambton College (JLU) to offer coursework at in China that culminated in a three year diploma from Lambton College and the BBA degree from Northwood University.  The campus of JLU is adjacent to the campus of Jilin University.

Coursework is taught by a mixture of local/western adjunct faculty and NU faculty coming from the U.S. to teach intensive short courses. The program is designed so that students spend the first year of undergraduate study in China and then have the option of:

• Spending two years in Canada and then coming to Northwood University for the fourth year. 
• Spending three years in China and then coming to Northwood University for the fourth year. 
• Spending all four years in China.

Location

The program is located at the JLU campus in Changchun, China.  The facility offers classrooms, computer labs, dining facilities, use of Jilin University’s library, student housing, and faculty and administrative offices.

Changchun, located in the northeast portion of China, is a city of approximately 7 million people, and is the capital of Jilin Province.  It is a manufacturing center for the transportation industry, including the automotive industry.

Programs Offered

The BBA program at JLU consists of two semesters and mini sessions in the academic year. The following programs are offered by NU at JLU:

• BBA in Banking and Finance/Management
• BBA in Computer Information Management
• BBA in Hotel, Restaurant and Resort Management
• BBA in  International Business/Management
• BBA in  Marketing/Management

Admissions Criteria

All students who wish to apply to NU must complete an NU undergraduate application.  Applications may be obtained from JLU (see contact information below) and must be completed in its entirety and submitted for consideration. Official acceptance into NU will be communicated in a letter of admission.

Entry requirements are:

• Completion of the Lambton College 3 year diploma (in the area corresponding to the NU BBA major)
