President Keith A. Pretty has named Dr. Timothy Nash as the first David E. Fry Endowed Professor in Free Market Economics. Nash will continue to lead professional and executive education programming and the University of the Aftermarket, work with specialty undergraduate and graduate academic programs, including the Dow/Hantz Executive MBA program, and develop new and innovative strategic partnerships on multiple levels. In his new role, Dr. Nash will also teach economics and philosophy across the system, including the DeVos Graduate School of Management and Northwood's Adult Degree Program, and work with faculty and staff on whitepapers, media reports, and other philosophical outreach pieces.

When Dr. David E. Fry retired as president of Northwood University in 2006, friends of his came together to fund this professorship. The David E. Fry Endowed Professorship in Free Market Economics was created to carry on his legacy of leadership and his passion for education. In his 24 years leading the University, he created a climate where Northwood graduates could thrive in the world of business, global economics and free markets. The Endowed Professorship allows this passion to be passed on to generations of students. As an Endowed Professor, Dr. Nash's influence will extend beyond the classroom. He will share The Northwood Idea with audiences everywhere, attracting new friends, new students and media interest in Northwood University.

"I was thrilled when President Pretty asked me to assume the responsibilities of Vice President for Strategic and Corporate Alliances and am honored to be the first David E. Fry Endowed Professor in Free Market Economics. As both a student of Northwood and later a teacher and administrator, I benefited from Dr. Fry's instruction and insight. I look forward to the challenges and opportunities this position affords Northwood University as we continue to execute the dynamic and powerful vision and strategy outlined by Dr. Pretty and our board of trustees."
