Reception/Timeline
Upon entering the facility, visitors first
encounter the museum. Set up as a timeline, the exhibits walk viewers
through the life of Margaret Chase Smith from her birth in 1897 to
her death in 1995. At the same time, visitors will learn much about
the history of the United States during the eventful twentieth century.
One of the most remarkable displays is the collection of colorful
academic hoods that lines the ceiling. Senator Smith was very proud
to have received 95 honorary degrees from colleges and universities
throughout the United States and Canada. |
