Professional Development

Students are encouraged to develop business skills and gain valuable experience by working on or off campus, and participating in professional development workshops, conferences, and activities. To receive EXCEL credit or hours towards an EXCEL credit, approved activities must meet the following criteria:

  1. The position of employment or activity must demonstrate a business dimension.
  2. The employment must provide for the development of skills that can be utilized in a business setting.
  3. The activity must provide substance and value related to business. Simple exposure to a business or business activity is not considered to be worthy of receiving EXCEL credit.
  4. Repeated activities, such as continued employment in the same job, will not be awarded credit more than once in a given academic year.

It is imperative to have the Activity Validation form signed by the sponsor. The EXCEL Program Office recommends that you take the form with you to the presentation or internship site. The EXCEL Program Office verifies all forms.

Professional internships where the student is NOT receiving academic credit visit Career Services or the EXCEL Program Office for additional information or opportunities.

We focus on education for a life of contribution in the private sector. We believe that is where the productive future exists. We specialize, in that we develop and build all our curriculums around the principles of the market economy. We incorporate a series of beliefs into our curriculums. And they serve to anchor us in order that the changing parts of what we do cannot lead us astray.
