Each campus offers several Artist Residencies per year. Residencies are funded by the Northwood University Arts Endowment, initially set up by Northwood Founder, the late Dr. Arthur E. Turner, to assure that students continue to be impacted by exploring and experiencing the arts.
Campus Arts Directors have autonomy to use funding in tandem or independently, allowing them to utilize block booking for internationally acclaimed performers. The residencies are tailored to the group’s expertise, combining Meet and Greets, classroom lectures, and free on-campus performances.
For 2007-2008 Northwood-Florida is honored to host Japanese Taiko drummers "Fushu Daiko", flamenco guitarist Howard Greenblatt, and the Chapter 6 vocal band. In previous years, the Florida campus has hosted ventriloquist/comedian Taylor Mason, cast members from "BREAK! The Urban Funk Spectacular, visual artists Richard Hight and Marion Albrecht, the Fry Street String Quartet, Three Men and a Tenor, and the African American Dance Ensemble as artists-in-residence.
The West Palm Beach campus has non-traditional performing spaces; our main stage is 13’ deep x 28’ wide and is situated in a lecture hall atmosphere that holds 190 seats. There is also a 40’ x 40’ art gallery and several outdoor locations used for performance space.
Artists interested in being considered for the Artist in Residence program should submit a letter of intent along with a full press kit and media material to:
