Leo Arthur Vecellio, Jr. has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. At the end of his military service, he held the rank of Captain in the United States Air Force and joined the Heavy & Highway Construction and Coal Mining firm of Vecellio & Grogan, Inc. which operates in West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Florida and Tennessee.

He is presently CEO and Chairman of the Board of Vecellio & Grogan, Inc. which is consistently listed in the top 400 contractors in the U.S. with its most current rank being 179. The Florida companies include Ranger Construction Industries, Inc., PAVEX Corporation, and White Rock Quarries. Ranger is heavily involved in many road projects for the DOT, and also development projects in south and central Florida. Ranger also specializes in golf course work throughout the United States. PAVEX operates in south and central Florida, the Florida Keys and the Bahamas. White Rock Quarries, a major aggregate facility in Dade County, is the eighth largest quarry in the United States. Total employment in Florida is over 1,000.

Dr. Vecellio is also a member of the Florida Council of 100, the Economic Council of Palm Beach County and serves many other civic and charitable organizations. Leo Vecellio received an honorary doctorate degree from Northwood University in May 1989. In 2001, through the generosity of Leo Vecellio and Jim Arrigo, Northwood University received the benefit of the beautiful Arrigo-Vecellio Soccer Field which is named in their honor.
