Penalty for Alcohol Use/Abuse and/or Possession
  • First Offense-Recommended Sanctions
    • Confiscation and disposal of alcohol.
    • A written warning placed in the student's disciplinary file.
    • 10 supervised community service hours (converts to a minimum of a $50.00 fine if service hours are not completed as directed).
    • Possible referral to counseling sessions with the University Counselor
    • Loss of alcohol privilege if living in a designated "21" apartment and possible reassignment to a "non-21" apartment.
  • Second Offense-Recommended Sanctions 
    • Confiscation and disposal of alcohol. 
    • Final disciplinary probation status for a period determined by the Dean of Students
    • 15 supervised community service hours (converts to a minimum of a $75.00 fine if service hours are not completed as directed).
    • Notification of parents.
    • Possible referral for substance abuse evaluation through the counseling office and required participation in a substance abuse class (minimum 6 hours).
  • Third Offense-Recommended Sanctions
    • Suspension or dismissal from the university.
    • Notification of parents.
    • Completion of a community (off-campus) substance abuse program before readmission.

Note: A drug violation while on probation for an alcohol violation will result in suspension from the University.

Penalty for Drug Use and/or Possession, or Drug Paraphernalia
  • First Offense-Recommended Sanctions
    • Confiscation and destruction of drugs and/or paraphernalia. 
    • Notification of parents. 
    • Final disciplinary probation status for a period determined by the Dean of Students. 
    • Mandatory substance abuse evaluation and mandatory participation in a substance abuse lass (minimum 6 hours).
    • 20 supervised community service hours
  • Second Offense-Recommended Sanctions
    • Confiscation and destruction of drugs and/or paraphernalia.
    • Suspension from the University.
    • Notification of parents.
    • Completion of a community (off-campus) substance abuse program before readmission to the University.
  • Third Offense-Recommended Sanctions
    • Confiscation and destruction of drugs and/or paraphernalia.
    • Immediate permanent dismissal for the University. No appeal.
    • Notification of parents.

Note: An alcohol violation occurring while a student is on probation for a drug may result in suspension from the University.

Sanction For the Sale or Distribution of Drugs
  • Immediate permanent dismissal from the University. No appeal.
  • Notification of local law enforcement agency.
  • Notification of parents.
