Northwood University's University College provides students the opportunity to visit the Margaret Chase Smith Library for four days of intensive study during the summer. After a preview of Senator Margaret Chase Smith's life, students research a topic using one of the many primary-source case studies developed by the library staff. At the end of the week, students present an oral report on their findings. A final paper on the topic is due a month after the session concludes. During the week, students also listen to a series of historical lectures, which they must summarize and submit in written form.

LuptowskiThomasSeminars presented by: Professor Thomas Luptowski, tslupper@aol.com

In addition to research, students go on a field trip and attend lectures by Professor Luptowski and others. Dr. Greg Gallant, Executive Director of the library, is one of the speakers.

Please take a moment to review the agenda and accomodation information as well as the welcome letter for the June/July 2008 seminar.

Students are responsible for their own accommodations and most settle into area motels and campgrounds. Many families tag along to combine the seminar with a "down east" vacation.

For more information, please contact Lexi Welch at University College office, 1.800.445.5873. The class size is limited to 10-14 students.
