Northwood Timberwolves

Now Entering Timberwolf Country

The mission of Orientation is to welcome you to Northwood University and provide you with the foundation for academic and extracurricular success.

This is a time to get familiar with the campus, meet other Timberwolves and prepare to start your year on the right track!

At Orientation, you will:

  • learn what it means to be a Northwood University Timberwolf,
  • register for classes (transfer students may register prior to Orientation),
  • meet your academic advisors,
  • consult with other NU representatives and faculty, and
  • receive your student ID.

Information regarding registering for Orientation will be mailed to committed (deposited) students in early February. If you are interested in taking the English and/or Math Challenge exam(s), please be sure to register to do so when signing up for Orientation.

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION – Choose to attend any ONE of these MANDATORY Orientation dates:

Orientation dates for freshmen will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis determined by the date your commitment deposit is paid. Parents are encouraged to attend Freshman Orientation to familiarize themselves with campus and receive additional information at breakout sessions.

Knights' SWORD (Student Welcome, Orientation and Registration Day) is designed to make your transition to Northwood University as smooth as possible.

At SWORD, you'll learn about your new campus home, meet your professors, and register for your classes.

More importantly, you will meet your fellow classmates and make new friends. You will have fun! And, you'll be ready to call Northwood home when you arrive in August!

Orientation dates will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. It is important to choose your date as soon as possible to ensure you receive the date of your choice, since we have capped registrations for each session at 50 students. Once you are registered, you will receive confirmation through your Northwood email account.

To register for your SWORD date, log into your Northwood University web portal account through http://my.northwood.edu. Click on the WebAdvisor tab and then choose Prospective Students, under Admissions Information, click on the link to New Student Orientation.
